Pastor Oscar Clavel

HEAD OF STAFF

Oscar Clavel – Senior Pastor

Pastor Oscar Clavel is from Louisville, Kentucky. He is a 2007 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey, and a 2003 graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Waxahachie, Texas. He also received certification in Clinical Pastoral Education at Norton and Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville in 2006. He was Associate Pastor at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana for ten years prior to coming to Wekiva Presbyterian in 2021.

Pastor Oscar has a brother and is close to both his parents. He enjoys the outdoors, long bicycle rides, meeting friends for dinner, and is an avid reader of non-fiction.​

Betsy Bone

DIRECTOR OF MUSIC & WORSHIP ARTS

Betsy Bone

Betsy is the Director of Music and Worship for Wekiva Presbyterian, where she blends her musical and artistic experiences with her passion for worship. She graduated in 1982 from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Music Education (vocal emphasis) where she met her husband, Dan. After moving to Florida in 1984, Betsy quickly got involved in the Central Florida music community where she performed with Orlando Civic Theatre, Bach’s Lunches, Orlando XIII, and the Orlando Opera Company, both in the chorus and as a Resident Artist. She graced the stage in Toulon, France in a production of The Mikado, and spent a summer in Graz, Austria as a student and soloist in the American Institute of Musical Studies. She’s conducted for Robert Shaw, directed a youth program at Civic Theatre in Orlando, and developed and directed the Maitland Youth Community Choir. She also led the Senior Choir at Village on the Green and spent 10 years developing and directing the Children’s and Youth choir and handbell programs for another local church.

Betsy joined the staff at Wekiva Presbyterian in 2007, where she has enjoyed sharing her gifts of music, drama and art. She carefully integrates music texts with scripture as well as liturgical arts, creating a cohesive, participatory and spiritually enriching worship experience for the congregation. Dan and she have two children who are happily married and are expecting their first grandchild.

Lisa Prewitt

DIRECTOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Lisa Prewitt

Lisa Prewitt serves as the Director of Christian Education at Wekiva Presbyterian Church, where she is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and faith formation within the congregation. She plans, coordinates, and implements the church’s formation ministry, overseeing Sunday School programs for both adults and children.

Each Sunday, Lisa delivers the children’s message and leads the children's ministry. She also directs the Vacation Bible School program, ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience for participants.

In addition to her work with children, Lisa is the leader and Bible study teacher for the LOFT Bible Study for Women, where she provides guidance and spiritual mentorship. She also serves as a mentor for mothers in the church's moms' group and is a trained Stephen Minister, offering support and care to those in need. Lisa extends her ministry to Wekiva Presbyterian Church’s preschool component, the Christian Child Center, where she teaches chapel to the 3’s and Pre-K classes, nurturing young hearts in faith.

Lisa and her husband, Scott, have been married for 36 years and have two children. Since 2012, their family has been actively involved in the church community, serving and growing together in faith.

Aloma Bratek

CHILDREN'S CHOIR DIRECTOR

Aloma Bratek

Aloma is the Children's Choir Director at Wekiva Presbyterian Church. For over twenty-two years, she has shared the joy of music with hundreds of children. Aloma uses music to teach basic development skills to preschoolers and she directs the K-5th grade Children’s Choir at WPC.
Aloma is the Music Teacher for all age groups at Christian Child Center as well as the Computer Instructor for Pre-K. She works with individuals experiencing physical and neurological challenges and has earned a Music Therapy degree from Rollins College.

Aloma runs a non-profit music organization called Sharp Musical Experiences for families and individuals living with autism. Aloma is married to Tony and has six children and numerous grandchildren who bring joy to her life.

Anton Faynberg

Organist / Pianist

Anton Faynberg

Anton is a Russian-American pianist whose music is deeply personal, sensitive, and transcendent. Anton joined the WPC staff in May of 2024. Having graduated from Oberlin Conservatory and earned a Doctoral degree from the University of Arizona, Anton continues to perform, record, produce, and lecture on various aspects of classical and contemporary music. Anton specializes in music for dance, acoustic and electronic long-form improvisation, music for church, and novel presentations of Western Classical music.

In addition, Dr. Faynberg holds a Master's degree in Theology and creates sacred music for church settings. These offerings, entitled Musica Divina, combine pre-recorded materials with live improvisation and Scripture. The Holy Spirit ever guides his music and inspires a meeting with the transcendent.

Abbie VanDenBerg

OFFICE MANAGER

Abbie VanDenBerg

Abbie has worked at Wekiva Presbyterian Church since 2019. She administers the Church calendar, manages the Church database, compiles and designs all church publications, and answers questions of all sorts. Abbie has worked in Presbyterian Churches for the last 15 years after a career as a Project Manager at a training company, and a Television Producer/Editor.

Abbie has a BA in Communications from Michigan State University. She and her husband Barry moved to Florida from Michigan in 1997. They have two sons and live in Maitland. Abbie enjoys music, movies, puzzles, crosswords, podcasts, science, and kind people.

Bruce Rogers

CO-PROPERTY MANAGER

Bruce Rogers

Bruce is a long-time member of Wekiva Presbyterian Church and began as the Co-Property Manager on January 1, 2025. Bruce has over 30 years in construction project management, working 20 years for a large regional bank.

Bruce has lived in the Orlando area since he was two years old. He and his wife Kathy have been married for 45 years. They have two daughters and five grandchildren. Bruce enjoys writing stories and books, woodworking and restoring an antique car.

Vic Newhart

CO-PROPERTY MANAGER

Vic Newhart

Vic joined the staff in 2007, overseeing all property issues and vendors. Vic grew up in Ithaca, New York and joined the Navy where he specialized in cooling/AC on many submarine tours/missions. He lives now in Apopka and is married to Martha and has three beautiful and beloved daughters, four granddaughters, one step-grandson and one great-granddaughter.

After the Navy, Vic worked various jobs, then got into car sales and moved into management for 33 years. He worked at a local golf course too. Vic plays bass in Wekiva Current, loves to golf, meet friends for breakfast, and other events, travel, and family.

Ben Williams

FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR

Ben Williams

Ben has been Finance Administrator since 2012. His duties include payroll, payables, donation collection for bank deposits, annual budget compilation and profit reporting to the Finance Committee. Ben grew up in Pennsylvania and is married to Susan. They have two sons, Zachary and Matthew, who are in the Navy.

Ben learned his trade at Fortune 500 companies Ford Motor Company, PepsiCo and Tupperware, rising to Director of Financial Planning & Analysis Worldwide at Tupperware. Ben then became a cofounder and CFO for Kara Vita, a direct sales skin care company. Currently, in addition to his part-time work for us as our Financial Administrator, he is also the part-time Financial Administrator for a local electrical contractor. Mr. Williams has passed the CPA and holds a BS in Economics and an M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration).

Katie Chrisien

Katie Chrisien is the Director of Christian Child Center. Katie grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the youngest of five children. She attended The University of Wisconsin: Madison and earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, Katie married her college sweetheart, Scott, and they left the chilly north behind to settle in sunny Florida.

Katie has lived in the Longwood area for 37 years, working in various educational settings with children of all ages, while raising her five daughters, all of whom are Christian Child Center graduates! Katie is thrilled to be leading CCC, serving the community she loves and providing the very finest early childhood Christian education.

Abbie VanDenBerg

Assistant Director of Christian Child Center

Heather Swisher

Heather Swisher is the Assistant Director of Christian Child Center. She is a Florida native, having been born in Miami and residing in Longwood for the past 47 years. Heather went to college in South Carolina on a fast pitch softball scholarship, before returning to the Orlando area to graduate from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Journalism.

Heather and Rob joined the church 30 years ago because they wanted to be a part of a close-knit community nearby to home. Heather sat on the Christian Child Center board for 3 years while her children attended and graduated from CCC. Because of the high-quality preschool education and wonderful atmosphere, Heather decided to join the CCC staff in 2009. She loves getting to know all the new and returning families to CCC and hopes they will also have the wonderful experiences and lifelong friendships she has made.
