The 30 Hour Famine - This is a great mission opportunity
for our middle school youth. For thirty hours the teenagers fast
in an effort to help fight world hunger. Kids receive money from
sponsors that is given to "World Vision". During this
thirty-hour period the group meets at the church for activities
and an overnight lock-in. The next day they spend their time working
in shelters, food banks, community centers, nursing homes, etc.
At the end of the fasting period, everyone indulges in a banquet.
Yearly Mission Trip - Each year our senior high youth
spend 8 days involved in mission work. In recent years we have
traveled to Baltimore MD. Pittsburgh PA., Buchannon MI, and Austin,
TX. The annual mission trip serves a threefold purpose: to reach
out and do God's work, to strengthen friendships within the group,
and to help each member grow in their personal relationship with
God. The trip is usually the last week in May or the first week
in June.
Fun in the Sun Events - During the summer the youth spend
time at pool parties, Frisbee games, movie nights, beach trips,
and amusement parks.
Hang Time - The First, Third and Fifth Wednesdays of every
month the senior high youth hang out in their room which is called
the "Crosswalk". We meet from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Easter Sunrise Service - Youth lead all aspects of this
service at 7 AM Easter morning under the campanile. The youth
participate in ushering, liturgy, music, and the sermons are given
by the seniors.
Live Nativity - Senior high and middle school youth participate
in this Christmas tradition. On December 21, 22, and 23 students
become the characters in the manger scene. This is a motionless
nativity that is done to narration. A great community outreach
service.
Christmas Family - Each year the senior high group adopts
a family from the community and provides them with Christmas gifts
and groceries. Teenagers use their own money for this program.
Youth Sunday - Once a year in August, the senior high youth
of the church lead the 8:30 and 11:00 worship service. All elements
of the service are led by our youth.
