Wekiva Presbyterian
Church has two identical Sunday Worship Services:
8:30
AM to 9:30 AM
11:00 AM
to 12:00 PM
Whom
do we worship?
We worship the
One God in Three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Why do we
worship?
God created
us out of love. In Jesus Christ we see God’s love clearly. Jesus
gave His life for us on the cross reconciling us to God. In response
to this love, we worship and praise God daily and as we gather together
each Sunday. We believe that Jesus is "the way and the truth
and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
- John 14:6
How do we
worship?
Through the
basics:
We worship through
reading the Word (the Bible), preaching the Word, spoken and unspoken
prayer, and music sung and offered in joyful praise.
Through our
practice:
Wekiva Presbyterian
Church's worship follows a Presbyterian order or outline. Within
this outline, we pray together and praise God with hymns and choral
anthems as we attentively encounter the One Eternal God.
In our Application:
In worship,
we listen gratefully to the Bible message and are equipped and inspired
to engage in telling and doing the Gospel (the Good News) in our
everyday lives.
When do we
worship at Wekiva Presbyterian Church?
Our worship
schedule includes two Sunday morning services in the Sanctuary:
the first service at 8:30 a.m. and the second service at 11:00 a.m.
(While we appreciate our heritage, we are not stodgy—our inspiring
music and worship reflect the living church in every age, including
today). Our summer worship schedule is the same as the rest of the
year. Wekiva celebrates communion on the first Sunday of even-number
months and there are many other special worship events throughout
the year. Special services include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday,
Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve (an Ecumenical Service held jointly
with five area churches) and three services on Christmas Eve.
Over 15 separate
educational programs are scheduled between services from 9:45 AM
to 10:45 AM. These include study programs for children of all ages
as well as a variety of adult programs. (See more about these, on
our Christian Education page!)
Why not come
and join us?
If you are looking
for a church home or a place to praise the Lord, come and join us
in worship soon and often. All are welcome!
Each service
includes a children's sermon, followed by Children's Chapel for
ages three through first grade. Children's chapel includes a brief
worship service followed by creative Bible study and a special activity
for each age group. This program is staffed by parents and the Director
of Christian Education.
